SKF tapered roller bearings are separable, allowing the inner ring, together with the rollers and cage assembly, and the outer ring to be mounted separately.
Product characteristics:
The modified contact line at the roller-raceway interface reduces stress concentration. SKF tapered roller bearings can withstand substantial radial and axial loads. As these bearings transmit axial loads in one direction only, a symmetrically mounted counterpart is required to handle axial loads in the opposite direction.
Tapered roller bearings primarily handle combined radial and axial loads, predominantly radial. The bearing's load capacity depends on the outer ring raceway angle; a greater angle yields higher load capacity. These bearings are separable and are categorised by the number of rolling element rows: single-row, double-row, and four-row tapered roller bearings. The clearance in single-row tapered roller bearings must be adjusted by the user during installation. while the clearance in double-row and four-row tapered roller bearings is pre-set at the factory according to user requirements and requires no adjustment.
Tapered roller bearings feature tapered inner and outer ring raceways, with tapered rollers arranged between them. The projection lines of all tapered surfaces converge at a single point on the bearing axis. This design renders tapered roller bearings particularly suitable for sustaining combined (radial and axial) loads. The bearing's axial load capacity is largely determined by the contact angle α; a greater α angle yields higher axial load capability. The angle magnitude is expressed via the calculation coefficient e; a larger e value indicates a greater contact angle, enhancing the bearing's suitability for axial load applications.
Tapered roller bearings are typically of the separable type, meaning the tapered inner ring assembly (comprising the inner ring with roller and cage assembly) can be installed separately from the tapered outer ring (outer ring).
Applications:
The most widely used type within tapered roller bearings is the single-row tapered roller bearing. In recent years, small-sized double-row tapered roller bearings have also been employed in the front wheel hubs of passenger cars. Four-row tapered roller bearings are utilised in heavy machinery such as large cold and hot rolling mills.
Tapered roller bearings find extensive application across industries including automotive, rolling mills, mining, metallurgy, and plastics
