Single-row cylindrical roller bearings with cages comprise a unit consisting of solid inner and outer rings, along with cylindrical rollers and a cage assembly. The outer ring features rigid ribs on both sides or is rib-free, while the inner ring may have one or two rigid ribs or be designed without ribs. The cage prevents the cylindrical rollers from contacting each other during operation. Cylindrical roller bearings may be supplied with or without a cage.
‘Classic’ cylindrical roller bearings offer higher radial load capacity and high rigidity. Beyond handling substantial radial loads, these bearings can also accommodate axial loads when employed as semi-locating or locating bearings. Radial loads are transmitted via the raceways, whilst axial loads are transferred through the end faces of the rolling elements and the ribs – naturally imposing limits on axial load capacity. This is precisely where Schaeffler comes into play!

Significantly extending bearing service life under axial loads. The special curvature of the roller end faces enables load distribution across a larger surface area. The curved roller end faces increase the contact surface dimensions, thereby substantially reducing contact pressure.
