When should oil be changed and how much should be replaced? These are two major questions in the maintenance of SKF imported bearings. During oil replacement, insufficient oil volume will lead to premature failure of the SKF imported bearings; conversely, excessive oil volume may damage the power windings and coils.
Traditionally, SKF imported bearing lubrication schedules have been time-based. Equipment typically establishes lubrication plans according to operating hours. Furthermore, equipment maintenance programmes frequently incorporate guidelines on lubricant quantities.
For personnel, short-term lubricant replacement is commonplace, often involving excessive grease application. For instance, staff may be instructed to change lubricants every two to three weeks, adding one ounce of grease per SKF bearing. These recommendations were initially established based on factors that were neither practical nor fully understood.
Lubrication intervals operate under a simple premise: maintaining equipment functionality without SKF bearings seizing due to dryness or failure. This represents a fixed preventive concept. However, a balance must be maintained between insufficient lubrication and excessive over-lubrication.
